This bunny print was created by using watercolour paint on a sheet of acrylic coated in a thin layer of dish soap. It’s a finicky technique, but I adore the texture and subtlety of the result. Perfect for a rainy September afternoon, I’d say.
Admittedly, claims that peanut butter will increase your life expectancy probably aren’t true – but I say a toasted bagel smeared with the stuff is guaranteed to improve just about any artist’s morning.
Yup, and that means trying out fresh techniques with the ol’ paintbrush. Thanks to all of my art students-your unjaded enthusiasm is fueling my own artistic adventures. Like this super fast gesture painting I completed recently; all emotion and no second guessing anything.
..are my local heroes. I come from a farming family, so I’m particularly proud to contribute art to this regional event.
When asked to paint a picture of a gift wrapped heart to accompany a magazine article about organ donation (the gift of life, right?) I quickly learned I was NOT allowed to go all Monty Python…..so I came up with this instead.
Every week there’s news of a silent vigil-a response to lives cut short by violence, or darkened by abuse. This illustration was just completed for Island Health magazine.
Immensely pleased I am, to be the poster artist for the 2017 Vancouver Fringe Festival. Working with the team there has been a joy, and they’re proof that fun, artsy folk can also be organized and professional.
Easy to say, but hard to do when your whole world is ablaze. Although this illustration for Island Health magazine is for an article on lung disease, it’s certainly relevant to anyone battling or living near the forest fires sweeping across British Columbia. May the rain come soon, and lots of it. 
I am now teaching several art classes a week, including an introductory printmaking course. Never thought I’d be an instructor, never knew I’d enjoy it so much and as a bonus I’m actually reaping the rewards of all those years of surface design training at OCAD. Guess that student loan was worth it…..
Okay, but it IS a pretty fine show, and after almost two years of working on paintings and kooky found/modified art sculpture it’ll be opening soon!
